Motorway Management Center (MMC)

The Motorway Management Center (MMC) as well as the patrol vehicles are on stand-by around the clock throughout the year aiming to cater for the motorway operation needs.

The main objective is to locate and handle the approximate number of 23,000 incidents that occur on the Motorway each year, such as:

  • Traffic congestion
  • Car accidents
  • Immobilized vehicles
  • Problems in the motorway infrastructure or equipment
  • Adverse weather conditions
  • The MMC is responsible for managing and coordinating incident handling actions, while the patrol staff undertakes on site action in order to attain:
  • immediate response and the faster determination of the incident position in order to lower the possibilities of a secondary incident;
  • timely provision of information to passing drivers on the incidents, heavy weather conditions, etc.

All of these aim to enhance road safety and better serve the users of the Motorway.
