Visit of the Mr. Fotis Kouvelis – Party Leader “Dimokratiki Aristera”

Following the request of Dimokratiki Aristera, Mr. Fotis Kouvelis, Leader of the Party and Member of the Parliament, and Mr. Vaggelis Zorkadis (Gen. Secretary for Central Macedonia), Mr. Mimis Kassapidis, Mr. Leonidas Tsiropoulos and Mr. Akis Roussos as well as Ms Asimina Xyrotiri (Party Regional Council Member), Members of the Party visited, on 25.11.2011, the offices of Aegean Motorway and the Construction Joint Venture in Itea. The purpose of their visit was to be updated on the progress of the Project and its problems.

Mr. Kouvelis was informed on the progress of the Project, the problems in financing, the significant slowdown of works which resulted in the reduction in the number of employees and also, the developments regarding negotiations with the State by Mr. Jannis Nassoulis, COO and Mr. Nikos Antzoulakos, CFO of Aegean Motorway and Mr. Dimosthenis Papakrivopoulos Deputy Project Director of MKCJV

 

TEI Larisa – Day Event “Employment and Career”

Following an invitation of Larisa ΤΕΙ to the Day Event “Employment & Career”, Aegean Motorway SA, within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, responded with the participation of Mr. Nikos Lathouras, HR Manager. Mr Lathouras gave a brief presentation of the profile of the Company and the Project and afterwards offered advice to the students regarding their successful entry to the employment market.

 

European Night without Accidents

On Saturday, October 15, 2011 Aegean Motorway participated once again in the “European Night without Accidents” action which is organized by the “Panos Mylonas” Road Safety Institute – this year, with a difference, as this year the Company was present in two places at once! Volunteers-employees of Aegean Motorway were at Larissa – for the fourth year running – and Katerini for the first time, where they informed drivers socializing at the participating nightclubs on the alcohol consumption vs driving and gave “friendly” alcotests to the designated “drivers”.

 

Equipped Space provided to the Hellenic Emergency & Ambulance Service (EKAB)

On 21.07.2011, company officers and employees of the Hellenic Emergency & Ambulance Service (EKAB), Aegean Motorway SA and Goody’s as well as other others invited gathered at the Evangelismos MSS (direction to Thessaloniki) to attend the ceremony for the handover of a fully equipped space to EKAB. The space shall be used on a 24/7 basis as an Emergency Response Centre for incidents occurring at the Motorway and more particularly, at the “difficult” Tembi Valley. Mr. Jannis Nassoulis, Chief Operations Officer, on behalf of Aegean Motorway SA handed over the space to EKAB with Mr. Dimitris Papaggelis, Director of EKAB Larisa accepting it on behalf of the Service. Father Nikodimos of the Larissa – Tyrnavos Metropolis gave its blessing for the new Centre after its handover.

 

Tempi Tunnel Breakthrough

On Monday 30/5, the breakthrough of the longest tunnel in Greece and the Balkans, a tunnel of 6km which shall bypass Tembi Valley became a reality. The event which took place at the worksite of the Northern Portal of the Tunnel was attended by Mr. Sergios Lampropoulos, General Secretary for Co financed Projects, Mr. Konstantinos Agorastos, Regional Governor of Thessaly, Ms Rena Karalariotou, Deputy Governor of Larissa, Ms Sofia Mavridou, Deputy Governor of Pieria, Mr. Konstantinos Kollatos, Mayor of Tembi and Mr. Georgios Papathanasiou, Mayor of Dion-Olympus, BoD Members and Company officers of Egnatia Odos SA, Local Authorities, representatives of associate companies, Media, and a large number of employees of Aegean Motorway, Maliakos- Kleidi Construction Joint Venture, the Independent Engineer and the Construction Companies of the Project. Around 700 people were transferred by bus to the tunnel portal, 3km inside the tunnel and just after 14:30, Mr. Sergios Lampropoulos activated the button for the last blast, making the breakthrough a reality. Following a safety check and partial cleaning of the area, visitors approached the breakthrough area and met with the employees of the Southern Portal. The two foremen congratulated one another and marked the moment by opening a bottle of Champaign each. A small celebration followed. The 30th of May 2011 has become a landmark not only for the Aegean Motorway Project but also for the history of Construction Works in Greece.

Visit at the Project by the students of the School of Civil Engineering, of the University of Thessaly.

Following the request of Professor Dr. Efraimidis Aegean Motorway S.A. welcomed the students of the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Thessaly on Tuesday 17.05.2011. The students were guided at the Northern portal of Tunnel T2 where they surveyed the tunnel excavation works as well as at the rockfall protection works at Tempi Valley.

 

Regional Day for Road Safety.

Aegean Motorway S.A. participated in the “Regional Day for Road Safety” held on 22 March 2011 at the Exhibition Centre of GEFYRA S.A. The “Regional Day for Road Safety” is one of the actions organized by the Panos Mylonas Road Safety Institute and the Hellenic Institute of Transport Engineers within the framework of the “Hellenic Week for Road Safety 17/3 – 24/3”. During the “Regional Day for Road Safety” event, Mr. Harry Karandinos, Motorway Operation Manager of Aegean Motorway S.A. gave a presentation on Road Safety on the Motorway.

 

Participation of Aegean Motorway SA to the 4th Environmental Conference of Macedonia.

The Integrated Management Department of Aegean Motorway SA participated at the 4th Environmental Conference of Macedonia held at Thessaloniki, March 18-20, 2011

A paper entitled “Environmental Management –Indispensable part of risk assessment” comprising all experience and knowledge acquired by the company in this field was presented at the conference.

Aegean Motorway SA is particularly interested and promotes continuous research into the wider environment in which it operates and grows. Monitoring all developments and being a pioneer in this field in Greece, the company has initiated procedures for the development of an integrated instrument for the assessment of its environmental performance, taking into account business and social criteria.

The Conference organized by the Hellenic Union of Chemists in cooperation with the Central Macedonia Region, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Chemistry Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and other authorities was held under the auspices of the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Climate Change and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

 

1st Works Sites Open Day

On Saturday, 19 March 2011, citizens of Larissa visited the Project of Aegean Motorway S.A. In particular, they visited Evangelismos Tunnel (Τ1), excavation of which has been completed and then, via Tembi Valley, they visited the northern section of Tempi Tunnel (T2). The visitors were accompanied by Mr. Dimiris Poulitsis, Project Manager and Ms. Irene Zavridou, Communications Manager of Aegean Motorway S.A. During the guided visit, a detailed presentation of the Project was given including technical details was provided by the Company representatives and the representatives of the Construction Joint Venture Messrs. Dimosthenis Papakrivopoulos, Deputy Project Director of the Construction JV and Panagiotis Kitsakis, Worksite Manager.

 

Members of the Press visited the Project.

On 14 March 2011, accredited press officers of the National Press and journalists of the Local Press visited the Project following an invitation of the Company. The members of the Press were given a tour of the road construction works as well as the tunnels of the Project. The Press were guided in the Project by Mr. Dimitris Poulitsis and Mr. Kostas Kalogirou from the Technical Division as well as by Mr. Gatsonis, CEO, Mr. Jannis Nassoulis, COO, Mr. Marc Milosevic, CTO of Aegean Motorway S.A., and Mr. Dimosthenis Papakrivopoulos, Deputy Project Director of the Construction JV

 

Visit by the German Ambassador

On the 17th of January 2011, Dr. Ronald Michael Wegener, the German Ambassador, accompanied by Mr. Loukas Papazoglou, Member of the Board of Directors of the Company and Mr. Klaus Boede, CFO of HOCHTIEF Hellas visited the Project of Aegean Motorway SA. The Ambassador’s visit to the Project was due to the fact that HOCHTIEF, one of the largest construction companies of the world is the leading shareholder of Aegean Motorway S.A. Mr. Gatsonis, CEO, welcomed the Ambassador and the other visitors and gave a presentation of the Project and of the Company.

Then, the group visited the Moschochori Motorway Management Centre, Tunnel (T1) at Evangelismos, the Northern Portal of Tempi Tunnel (T2 ) and the new Bridge of Pinios River where he was guided by Mr. Christian Zimmermann, Project Manager of the Maliakos Kleidi Construction Joint Venture.

 

Representatives of EYDE Motorway Maintenance of the Central Macedonia Region visited the new sections under construction.

Representatives of EYDE Motorway Maintenance of the Central Macedonia Region visited the new sections under construction on Wednesday 20 October 2010. In particular, the group visited Tembi Valley where they were updated by the Independent Engineer on the rockfall protection works and then, they continued to the Tunnel T2 North and finally, the new Pinios river Bridge.

 

European Night without accidents.

For the 3rd year running, Aegean Motorway SA participated in the “European Night without accidents” initiative organized by the “Panos Mylonas” Road Safety Institute on Saturday, 16 October at a nightclub in Larisa. Six volunteers, employees of the Company, wearing marked vests informed the drivers going into the club on alcohol consumption and driving and, at the end of the night, carried out alco-tests for the “driver” of each party.

 

Members of the Technical Chamber of Greece, Thessaly branch visited the Project

On 14.09.10, a delegation of the Technical Chamber of Greece, Thessaly Branch visited the construction Works carried out by the Company at Larissa Prefecture. In particular, the delegation visited Tunnel T1, excavation works of which have been completed, the northern portal of Tunnel T2 and the new bridge of Pinios River currently under construction. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Kostas Kalogirou, Pavement Project Manager and Ms. Irene Zavridou, Communications Manager of Aegean Motorway S.A. as well as Mr. Dimosthenis Papakrivopoulos, Deputy Project Director. During the course of the visit, the delegation was briefed extensively on the technical details and the time schedule of the Works.

 

The Prefect of Larisa visited the Project

Following an invitation by Aegean Motorway S.A., Mr. Loukas Katsaros, Prefect of Larisa and Mr. Zisis Lioupas, Mayor of Makrychori visited the Project works that are being carried out in the Prefecture. More specifically, they visited Tunnel T1, Tunnel T2, road construction works at the new sections of the Motorway and the new Pinios River bridge. Finally,  the Prefect was briefed on the rockfalll protection works at Tembi Valley. The Company was represented by Mr. Jannis Nassoulis (Chief Operating Officer), Mr. Kostas Kalogirou (Pavement Project Manager), Ms Eirini Zavridou (Communications Manager) and Mr. Dimosthenis Papakrivopoulos (Deputy Project Director). The visit was covered by local Press.

 

Day conference of the Magnesia Civil Engineers Union: “Geotechnical Matters and Applications”

Aegean Motorway S.A. supported the Day Conference organized by the Magnesia Civil Engineers Union on 14.05.2010 at the Amphitheater of the Technical Chamber of Greece, Magnesia Brach. During the Conference, Mr. Kalogirou, Pavement Project Manager for Aegean Motorway and Mr. Dimosthenis Papakrivopoulos, Deputy Project Director  for Maliakos – Kleidi Construction Joint Venture gave a presentation on the Construction Scope of the Project: “Concession: PATHE Motorway, Maliakos – Keidi section”.

 

Visit at the Project by the students of the School of Civil Engineering, National Technical University of Athens.

Following the request of Professor Boukovalas who was a member of the Experts Team which examined the rockfall incident at Tembi, on 07.05.2010, Aegean Motorway S.A. welcomed the students of the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. The students were informed on the technical characteristics of the Project. Afterwards, they were given a tour at Tembi Valley where they looked at the rockfall restoration works and at the portal of Northern Tunnel T2 where they surveyed the tunnel excavation works.

 

Short film shot at location.

On 29.04.2010, students of the School of Film Studies, Faculty of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki shot a short film at location at Leptokarya Toll Station with the support of the employees of Aegean Motorway S.A.

 

Visit by the Students of the Forestry and Environmental Management School of Lamia TEI.

The Conference took place on 20.03.2010 at the amphitheater of Larissa G.I. Katsigras Gallery – Museum. Main Speaker was Mr. Aris Stathakis, journalist, ex President of the National Committee for Road Safety, ex Vice Mayor of Athens and Member of the Parliament. During the Conference, Mr. Harry Karandinos, Motorway Operation Manager of Aegean Motorway S.A. made a presentation on “Road Safety on the motorway”.

 

Delegation of the Technical Chamber of Greece at Tempi Valley.

Delegation of the Technical Chamber of Greece, Thessaly Branch visited Tempi Valley on 29.03.2010. The Delegation was escorted by Mr. Dimosthenis Papakrivopoulos, Deputy Project Director of the Construction Joint Venture and Mrs. Irene Zavridou, Communications Manager. During the visit, the Delegation examined the rockfall protection works that have been carried out.

 

Day Conference regarding “Safe Driving – Road Safety Code – First Aid at the Scene of the Accident”.

Aegean Motorway S.A. supported the Day Conference held by the Municipality of Larissa regarding “Safe Driving – Road Safety Code – First Aid at the Scene of the Accident”.The Conference took place on 20.03.2010 at the amphitheater of Larissa G.I. Katsigras Gallery – Museum. Main Speaker was Mr. Aris Stathakis, journalist, ex President of the National Committee for Road Safety, ex Vice Mayor of Athens and Member of the Parliament. During the Conference, Mr. Harry Karandinos, Motorway Operation Manager of Aegean Motorway S.A. made a presentation on “Road Safety on the motorway”.

 

Visit at Tempi Valley.

On Thursday 18.03.2010, representatives of the National and Local Press visited Tempi Valley following an invitation by Aegean Motorway S.A. Representatives of the Thessaloniki, Katerini, Larissa, Volos and Athens Press had the opportunity to observe the works performed by the Swiss Alpinists and witness the Swiss helicopter in action. During the course of the visit, Mr. Dimitrios Gatsonis, CEO of Aegean Motorway S.A. and Mr. Dimosthenis Papakrivopoulos, Deputy Project Director of the Construction Joint Venture made statements on technical issues.
Afterwards, the Press and Company representatives went on to Ambelakia where the Press Conference was given.

 

Images of the City.

In view of the Mediterranean Games to be held in Volos and Larisa in 2013, Aegean Motorway S.A. sponsored the event took place in Larisa on 6th October 2009 for the start of the Cultural Mediterranean Activities. The event included the formal opening by the Medical School of the University of Thessaly and the Municipal Gallery of Larissa – Katsigra Museum of an art work exhibition - a metal construction forty meters long on the façade of the Medical School at the Tachidromeiou Square at Larisa, created by Larisa artists Lazaros Maravas and Antonis Karakostantakis.

After the opening a concert by Loukianos Kelaidonis and Vangelis Germanos followed.

 

Visit of the German Ambassador.

On 24 September 2009, Aegean Motorway S.A. welcomed Dr. Wolfgang Schultheiss, German Ambassador and Knut Zuchan, Commercial Attaché to the German Embassy accompanied by Mr. Martin Lommatzsch, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company. The Visit of the Ambassador was organized due to the fact that HOCHTIEF, one of the largest construction company of the world is the leading shareholder of Aegean Motorway S.A.

The Ambassador visited the Operation and Maintenance Centre at Moschochori, the Northern Portal of Tunnel T2, the new Pyrgetos Toll Station and the offices of the Technical Division of Itea where he attended a comprehensive presentation on the Project.

 

Visit of Representatives of the Insurance Companies.

On 24 September 2009, representatives of the Insurance Companies of the Project visited the Aegean Motorway. The day started with a presentation on the technical aspects of the Project given at the Central Offices of the Company in Larissa and continued with a visit to the Northern Portal of Tunnel T2.

 

Visit by the Head of the Scout Centre "Eleftheria"

Mr. Stelios Konstantinou, Head of the Scout Centre “Eleftheria” visited the Company’s offices on Tuesday, 11/8/09. During the visit, matters regarding the Company’s cooperation with the Scout Centre within the framework of the Corporate Social Responsibility program were discussed. Concluding the visit, Mr. Konstantinou presented the Company with the Emblem of the Scout Centre.

 

Visit by the Officers and Personnel of the 1st Army at the Project

Following a request by Brigadier Mr. Panagiotis Koutsianopoulos, Aegean Motorway S.A. welcomed the Officers and Personnel of the 1st Army at its central offices at Larissa where they have attended a detailed presentation of the Project. Following the presentation, Brigadier Mr. Panagiotis Koutsianopoulos awarded the Badge if the 1st Army to the representative of the Company. A visit to the Northern Portal of Tunnel T2 followed.

 

Delivery of Vehicles to the Hellenic Fire Brigade Service

Meeting its contractual obligation as set out in the Concession Agreement, Aegean Motorway S.A. proceeded on May, 19 2009 to the definite quality delivery of two (2) vehicles Jeep type to the Hellenic Fire Brigade Service so that they can be used, that is:

1. Two (2) people carrier factory fit PATHFINDER NISSAN make (Jeep), XE edition with 2500cc engine, Diesel / 171 PS.

The abovementioned vehicles have all the equipment necessary for their best and most efficient use.

The delivery of the Vehicles in the facilities for the Management of the Fire Brigade (ΔΙ.Π.ΥΛ.) at Mandra, Athens was attended by Mr. Konstantinos Papaspiropoulos, Procurement Department Manager and Mr. Konstantinos Karakiolis, Mechanical Engineer representing our company.

 

Students of the Civil Engineering Schools of Dimokriteio University and Metsovio Polytechnic School visit the Construction Works

Aegean Motorway welcomed the students of Dimokriteio University on 14/5 and the students of Metsovio Polytechnic School on 15/5 and provided a detailed presentation of the Project and its technical characteristics and gave them thereafter a tour of the Northern Portal of Tunnel 2 at Omolio.

 

Students of the University of Thessaly visit the Construction Works

Following a request by Dr Stelios Gialis, Professor of Geodesy, Aegean Motorway S.A. welcomed the second year students of the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Thessaly.
After a detailed presentation of the Project including its technical aspects, the students were given a tour of the Northern Portal of Tunnel 2 at Omolio.

 

Provision of Electronic equipment to the Fire Brigade Service

On 26.5.2008, Aegean Motorway S.A. offered IT equipment to the Fire Brigade Service of Larisa.  Mr. Jannis Nassoulis Chief Operations Officer of the company has provided Mr. Arseniou, Larissa City Fire Brigade Services Manager the computers that will be used to meet the current needs of the Fire Brigade Service.
