Winter Maintenance & Snow Removal
Winter maintenance is a specific, separate and specialized task that ensures the smooth operation of the Motorway during winter months.
The alert period is set between November 15th and April 15th each year. During this period, the organization and activities of the Operation & Maintenance Division are geared towards that aim. The Company has established constant and multi-level cooperation with all involved public agencies and in particular with Traffic Police and Civil Protection Service to ensure immediate reaction and activation of the respective mechanism when required by the prevailing weather conditions.
Snow removal is done with the most advanced methods (such as preventive spraying with liquid salt prepared in special tanks and dispensed using special machines), and cutting edge technology to ensure the high performance while keeping the impact on the environment to the lowest possible levels.
